Blood is thicker than water...

I have heard this catch phrase over and over again. I never actually understood the meaning of the phrase until recently. I chose to help raise my brothers son. He has a good mom and dad, that is not the issue. The issue at hand is..... what is best for the child when it comes to opportunities for education. Well.... I am able to give him the opportunities that he longs for as a teenager in school. As a family, we all agreed that he would stay with me during the school year and with his parents holidays and summer; which was actually just a switch aroo, because I had him holidays and summer; the parents had him school year. Anyway, things went really well, as we all planned. He made the best of it in school, but at home, a whole different story. Even though he had stayed with us long enough during all of those summer visits to know the basic rules, such as cleaning your room, never leave dishes in the sink.... blah blah blah, he still can not wrap his head around what goes on around here. He wakes up in a new world everyday and it is like I never told or taught him anything the day before. Every day he is here, it is like he just unpacked his suitcase and this is his first day. His attitude is unbelievable. He is not a bad child by any means. He is just definitely his mom and dad's child !!!! He chooses to live with me, but continues to live the way they live and by all of his old rules. I have given it plenty of time and I have came to the conclusion that there is no way to make the change...... I may be raising him, but he is not mine !!!!! BLOOD IS DEFINITELY THICKER THAN WATER !!!
